The Bainbridge Island Book Festival is a celebration of stories, ideas, and the people who bring them to life. Each year, we will gather together authors, thinkers, and readers to dive deep into the pages that challenge, entertain, and inspire us.

At the heart of our festival is a commitment to accessibility. We believe passionately that everyone should have the opportunity to engage with literature and the arts, regardless of their financial circumstances. That’s why we strive to keep the Bainbridge Island Book Festival free for all attendees. Through the generosity of our sponsors, volunteers, and community partners, we are able to offer a wide range of panels, workshops, and readings at no cost to the public.

(While most of our events are free, our keynote event serves as a fundraiser. This is a necessity for us as a nonprofit organization, allowing us to support our vision of an annual festival.)

The Bainbridge Island Book Festival takes place on land that is within the ancestral territory of the suq̀ʷabš “People of Clear Salt Water” (Suquamish People). Expert fisherman, canoe builders and basket weavers, the suq̀ʷabš live in harmony with the lands and waterways along Washington’s Central Salish Sea as they have for thousands of years. Here, the suq̀ʷabš live and protect the land and waters of their ancestors for future generations as promised by the Point Elliott Treaty of 1855.
